The Bodyguard soundtrack was released on November 17, 1992, by Arista Records. Not only was this Whitney Houston's best-selling album, but she also starred in the movie with the same title that the soundtrack was created for.
The album won numerous awards. Most notably, it held the record for the most weeks at the number one spot by a female musician on the Billboard 200 for 19 years. Despite receiving mixed reviews from some music critics, the album won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. The album is certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of American and is the first album to have sold more than a million units within one week back in December of 1992.
Worldwide, The Bodyguard has sold over 45 million copies and is the best-selling soundtrack of all time. It's also the best-selling album by a female musician of all time and the best-selling album of the decade.
