Best Selling Album of Fleetwood Mac

British-American soft rock band Fleetwood Mac released their best-selling album Rumours on February 4, 1977. It was the band’s eleventh studio album, expanding on the success of their self-titled album released two years prior. The album was recorded mostly in California in 1976 and talked about the heavy drug use and relationship breakups among the band’s members.

Rumours was intended to be more of a pop album as it included many pop-rock sounds, such as accented rhythms and electric keyboards from the Hammond B3 organ and Fender Rhodes.

The album became the band’s first number one album on the UK albums chart. It also topped the charts on the Billboard 200 with many of its songs becoming staples in the United States.

It sold over 10 million copies within one month of being released and has sold over 40 million copies worldwide. The album was awarded Album of the Year at the 1977 Grammy Awards and is 20 times certified platinum.
