We can’t think of a better soundtrack for the 1970s than the Bee Gees’ Saturday Night Fever. If you don’t believe us, then just try to listen to this album without dancing like John Travolta!
The disco album was created as the soundtrack for the 1977 film with the same title. It was released on November 15, 1977, and is one of the best-selling albums in history.
Saturday Night Fever has sold over 40 million copies worldwide and is the second best-selling album of all time after The Bodyguard. The album was certified 16 times platinum in the United States.
It stayed at the top of the charts in 1978 for 24 weeks in a row from January until July and spent 120 weeks on the Billboard’s album charts until March of 1980. The album was also successful in the United Kingdom, spending 18 weeks in a row at the number one spot.
